Your manuscript
stays yours.

This page is maintained by the everwood team to answer common questions about how we handle writers' drafts, publishers' accounts, and the AI that supports our developmental reads. It's editable project content, not an independent certification.

Your drafts are never used to train AI models.

When you upload a manuscript, the text is sent to our AI provider only to generate the developmental notes you asked for, and then it's done. We do not contribute your drafts to any model training set, fine-tuning corpus, or shared dataset — not ours, not a third party's. The words stay yours.

What everwood does with your text

  • Manuscripts are stored privately on your account so you can revisit and edit them.
  • When you request an AI read, up to 8,000 words of the selected chapter or passage are sent to our AI provider to produce tone, narrative-consistency, plot-structure, and grammar notes — never rewrites of your prose.
  • Insights are saved alongside your draft so you can come back to them. You can delete a draft at any time.

Access & authentication

  • Drafts are visible only to you while you're signed in. Row-level security on our database enforces this at the data layer, not just in the UI.
  • Publishers must register and be approved before they gain access to published drafts. Writers earn a verification badge before their work can be published; unverified writers can still receive private feedback.
  • Authentication is handled by our backend provider with industry-standard session tokens.

Data we collect

  • Account info: email and the role you choose (writer or publisher).
  • Manuscript content and the AI insights generated from it.
  • Basic usage signals needed to enforce per-user rate limits on AI reads.
  • everwood is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors — if you believe a minor has created an account, contact us and we'll remove it.

We do not sell your data

everwood does not sell your personal information or your manuscript content to anyone, ever. We don't run ad networks, we don't share drafts with data brokers, and we don't license your text to third parties. Publishers only see what you've listed publicly or specifically approved for them.

Sub-processors we rely on

To run everwood we use a small, deliberate set of infrastructure providers. Each processes only what's needed for its role:

  • Supabase — hosts our database, authentication, and file storage. Your drafts and account data live here, protected by row-level security.
  • Our AI provider (via Lovable's AI gateway) — receives manuscript excerpts only when you request an insight, and only for as long as it takes to generate the response. Gateway terms prohibit training on that content.
  • Resend — sends transactional email (account confirmations, notifications). Receives your email address and the message contents, and nothing about your drafts.

How the AI works here

  • We use Lovable's AI gateway, which routes requests to upstream model providers. Provider terms in effect at the time of writing prohibit training on prompt and completion content routed through the gateway.
  • Output length is capped and submissions are limited to 8,000 words per read — both for cost discipline and to keep the read tightly focused on one chapter at a time.
  • AI insight is positioned as developmental notes — strengths, themes, structural observations. everwood does not rewrite or edit your work.

Your rights

  • Export or delete any draft from your library at any time.
  • Delete your account by writing to us — we'll remove your drafts and insights.
  • Ask us anything about how your data is handled.

How long we keep your data

We keep your account, drafts, and insights for as long as your account is active. When you delete a draft, it's removed from the live database right away. When you delete your account, we remove your content within a reasonable period — typically within 30 days — with two caveats: encrypted backups cycle out on their own schedule (usually within a further 30 days), and we may retain a minimal record where a specific legal, tax, or fraud-prevention obligation requires it.

Shared responsibility

Lovable provides the underlying platform — hosting, authentication primitives, and the AI gateway. everwood (this app) decides what data is collected, how it's used, and how publishers and writers interact with it. The commitments on this page are everwood's.
